Educational activities

Education is a foundation of trust in the capital market and its participants. In pursuit of its mission, the Warsaw Stock Exchange has for years engaged in educational campaigns addressed to youth, investors and professionals on the capital market.

The key educational initiatives of the GPW Group are managed by GPW and TGE. To create a tool necessary to amplify the reach and efficiency of their educational initiatives, the GPW Group companies have established the GPW Foundation. The mission of the GPW Foundation is to develop and adapt the educational offer concerning the capital market and the exchange. The Foundation pursues its mission by implementing school and educational projects for school and university students. The GPW Foundation’s programmes are also addressed to investors and professionals active on the financial market.

Key educational projects and initiatives of the GPW Foundation and GPW in 2019:

In addition, as part of the educational activities of the GPW Foundation and the GPW Group, many additional programs, trainings and conferences are conducted, including:

  • product trainings for instruments listed on GPW markets,
  • Summer Online Exchange School
  • an educational competition „Turbo challenge Game”,
  • series of conferences „Long-term investing on the GPW",
  • series of trainings :“PPK: Life-long Investing” with the objective of providing substantive expert support to companies implementing Employee Capital Plans (PPK)
  • training for commodity brokers.

In 2019, the GPW Foundation joined the project “Knowledge-Skills-Competences”, an innovative acceleration model of intersectoral co-operation supporting the development of the Polish capital market. Spanning 24 months, the project was financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in order to strengthen Poland’s capital market by developing a model of intersectoral co-operation. The expected project deliverables include an optimal model of co-operation between academics, businesses (investors, issuers, SMEs), and the economic and legislative environment in order to develop networking, share best practice, exchange knowledge, and learn together. Short-term project outcomes include relations established between capital market stakeholders while the long-term outcomes include an increase in the number of product and process innovations (fintechs), an increase in the number of investors and issuers on the Polish capital market, and improved competitiveness of the Polish capital market.

Particularly noteworthy is the launch in October 2019 - as part of the implementation of strategic initiatives # GPW2022 - the GPW Growth program. GPW Growth – a comprehensive programme of support for growth of small and medium-sized enterprises based on their identified needs. The programme is addressed to CEOs, Board Members and Directors responsible for key goals of companies. The unique project features networking events with the participation of experts and business practitioners, workshops, case studies, one-on-one meetings, and international study visits. In addition, companies will be promoted among business and finance professionals. GPW Growth is organised by GPW and its partners including the Polish Development Fund (PFR), the EY Academy of Business, Inicjatywa Firm Rodzinnych, Dialog – Klub Dyrektorów Finansowych, as well as the programme patrons: the Ministry of Entrepreneurship & Technology and CFA Society Poland.
